What is The ALAN Project?
The ALAN Project is a new startup company devoted to helping people better understand inclusion.
We strive to use the power of education and perspectives to enable a deeper understanding of inclusion and the simple steps needed to promote it in our daily interactions and relationships with others.
We have adopted The ALAN Acronym as its key emblem and it will remain at the forefront of everything we do as an organisation.

Frequently Asked Questions

No.
When Satria first developed the ALAN Acronym, he marketed it as a guide to interacting with people with disabilities.
However, after some consideration, he now sees it as a guide to helping anyone feel included — regardless of whether they have a disability or not.
We are all different — in our abilities, appearances, and beliefs — and we believe inclusion is about how we approach and respect these differences.
Disability is not the only reason someone might be seen as different from what others perceive as "normal." Inclusion should matter to all of us — not just to those in widely recognised marginalised groups.

Satria used to do a lot of lived experience consultancy work, but he has since realised this isn’t really what he wants to do. Instead, he is using his lived experience to help people understand the broader concept of inclusion across different contexts, not just in relation to disability.
If you or your organisation would like some lived experience consultancy work in the area of disability, here are some useful resources to look into:

Podcasts
Note: not all the guests on these podcasts will necessarily offer lived experience consultancy services, but it is a good way to learn about people with disability/disabled people. Most of the time, people on these podcasts will share information on how to get in touch with them and what sort of services they can offer you and your organisation:
